How to Set Up Meta Business Manager & Ads Manager (With Troubleshooting)
🔹 STEP 1: Create Your Meta Business Account
01
Visit Meta Business
02
Create Account
Click "Create Account" (top right corner).
03
Log In
Log in with your personal Facebook account (this is required for admin access — your personal info stays private).
04
Fill Form
  • Business name (your brand/studio name)
  • Your name
  • Business email (you'll receive Meta notifications here)
05
Submit & Verify
Click Submit. Check your email and verify your address via the confirmation link.
06
Access Business Settings
Then go to Business Settings (gear icon in the menu) — this is where everything will be managed from now on.
🔹 STEP 2: Connect Facebook Page & Instagram Account
Facebook Page:
In Business Settings → Accounts → Pages
  • Click Add → Add a Page (if it already exists and you're the admin)
  • Or Create a New Page (choose type: Local Business, Brand, etc.)
Instagram:
In Business Settings → Accounts → Instagram Accounts
  • Click Add, then log into your Instagram account (via popup)
  • Make sure your Instagram is a Business or Creator account 👉 On Instagram: Settings → Account → Switch to Professional Account

Once connected, both your Page and IG should appear inside Business Manager.
🔹 STEP 3: Create an Ad Account
1
Navigate to Ad Accounts
Go to Business Settings → Accounts → Ad Accounts
  • Click Add → Create a New Ad Account
  • Set:
  • Name (e.g. "Studio Ads - EN")
  • Time Zone (important — not changeable later!)
  • Currency
  • Choose "My Business" when asked
2
Set Permissions
Assign yourself as Admin (you'll see a permission screen)
Optional: Add a second Admin or team members under Users → People
🔹 STEP 4: Add a Payment Method
Add Payment Method
Go to Business Settings → Payments → Add Payment Method
Add a credit card or PayPal account — this will be used to fund your ads
Backup Payment
Optional: Add a backup card to avoid disruptions if one fails
🔹 STEP 5: Create & Install Facebook Pixel
1
Create Pixel
In Business Settings → Data Sources → Pixels
Click Add, give your Pixel a name
2
Install on Website
Install the Pixel on your website:
  • If you're using WordPress, Shopify, etc. — use a plugin or integration
  • Otherwise, manually insert the Pixel base code into your website's tag
3
Test Pixel
Test the Pixel:
  • Go to Events Manager → Test Events
  • Open your site in another tab and verify that "PageView" events appear
🔹 STEP 6: Verify Your Domain (Required for conversion campaigns)
01
Add Domain
Go to Business Settings → Brand Safety → Domains
Click Add → enter your website domain
02
Choose Verification Method
  • Add TXT record to your DNS settings (via domain provider like GoDaddy or Namecheap)
  • Or add meta tag to your website's tag
03
Configure Events
Once verified, you can configure Events and Conversion settings for ads.
🔹 STEP 7: Optional — Business Verification (when required)
Meta may request business verification if:
  • You run political, medical, or sensitive ads
  • You scale spend or manage client accounts
Be prepared to upload:
Business Documents
Business registration certificate
Address Proof
Utility bill with address
Identity Verification
Government-issued ID
Process: Business Settings → Security Center → Start Verification
🔹 STEP 8: Assign Roles & Set Security
Add Team Members
In Business Settings → Users → People
Add teammates (Admin, Analyst, Advertiser)
Enable Security
Go to Security Center
  • Turn on Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all admins
  • This prevents hacking or unauthorised access
⚠️ COMMON ISSUES & FIXES
Instagram not linking to Business Manager
  • Make sure it's a Professional account (not Personal)
  • Disconnect and reconnect in Business Settings
  • Ensure you have Admin access on the connected Facebook Page
Pixel not tracking
  • Check that the code is placed in
  • Use Test Events to verify it's working
  • On single-page apps (React/Vue): manually trigger PageView events on route changes
Ads get rejected
Review the rejection reason in Ads Manager
Avoid:
  • Medical or financial claims
  • Clickbait or exaggerated statements
  • Too much text on image (Meta relaxed this, but still avoid)
If wrongfully rejected → Request Review
Ad Account Disabled
  • Go to Support Inbox to check reason
  • Fix issues (verify identity, payment, policy violations)
  • Submit appeal via Meta Support Inbox
Payment errors
  • Check your card country and currency settings
  • Call your bank to approve international charges
  • Add a second payment method as backup
